New sports, better site responsiveness, and more!
NHL scores, game summaries, and standings are now live! These scores also show in the ticker as well. MLB, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the 2026 Winter Olympics will be available closer to their actual starting dates. The plan is for the Winter Olympics to be available in late January/early February; MLB to come up around late February/early March for spring training; and the FIFA World Cup to be available in early June. Separate API solutions will likely be needed for the World Cup and Winter Olympics, since I'm not sure how ESPN handles them in their API.
Additionally, the site has been upgraded to use HTMX for smoother and faster page loading. Instead of each page loading separately, HTMX allows for partial page updates which allows for a more seamless site experience. This also allowed me re-implement the music player as it now stays persistent across each page. The music player is hidden by default. To show it, click the 🎶 icon in the toggle menu in the bottom right corner. The music player is a embedded playlist from Spotify, so you might need to login to your own Spotify via web for the player to function, at least in my experience. I may look for alternative solutions in the future.
A few design changes were done as well. Noteably, the navigation bar now includes a dropdown menu for each sport for better organization. I am also in the process of optimizing the site for mobile devices. Currently the site is usuable on mobile and there are no glaring design issues, but this has only been tested on my own personal iPhone 13. I will test on more devices in the coming weeks as this gets implemented.
